Lakewood Officer Involved In Shooting Has 2 In Past: Report

The Lakewood officer involved in a shooting in Kitsap County over the weekend has two fatal shootings in his past, according to a report.

LAKEWOOD, WA - The off-duty Lakewood officer involved in a shooting in Kitsap County over the weekend has shot and killed two people in the past, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Both of those shootings were ruled justified, however.

Lakewood Officer Darrell Moore has been with the department for four years, but has been an officer for 12. Moore was one of two officers involved in the 2013 fatal shooting on Patrick O'Meara, who was holding a toy cap gun when he lunged at police when they came to his house to serve a warrant.

In 2010, Moore shot and killed Matthew James Netter, 23, after a DUI stop in Silverdale. Moore was a Poulsbo officer at the time. According to the Kitsap Sun, Moore pulled Netter over after he saw him driving erratically, but during the stop, Netter reportedly threatened Moore with a pistol. Prosecutors ruled the shooting justified after reviewing video and audio of the incident.

Moore was driving home on Sunday - he was in a Lakewood patrol car and wearing his uniform - when he came into contact with Thomas St. Clair, 24, around 4 a.m. near Port Orchard. Details are unclear, but Moore ended up shooting St. Clair in the arm, wounding him. St. Clair was arrested, and has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

According St. Clair's charging documents, he may have tried to remove a weapon from his pocket shortly before Moore allegedly shot him.
