Lakewood Police Assist In Large Multi-State Meth Bust

The operation aimed to break up a methamphetamine distribution network between Washington and Mexico.

GIG HARBOR, WA - Two local men were among 19 arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency and local police in a bust of an alleged multi-state methamphetamine operation, authorities say.

Derek Johnson, 29, and Mark Agnew, 51, both of Gig Harbor, were arrested on Thursday as authorities executed 24 search warrants around Puget Sound and in Arizona. Authorities seized 44 pounds of methamphetamine, 50 guns, and more than $50,000 cash in multiple raids, the U.S. Justice Department says.

The DEA and the West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team - which includes officers from Lakewood Police, Washington State Patrol, and the Pierce and King County Sheriff's offices - began the investigation in 2014.
