Lakewood Restaurant Closing, But Not For Lack Of Business: Report

This restaurant only opened a few months ago, but its owners recently announced it will close permanently.

LAKEWOOD, WA - What began as a two-week vacation has turned into a permanent closure for a Lakewood restaurant. Smokin' Zees BBQ opened in October along Edgewater Drive, but the owners recently told the Tacoma News Tribune the popular spot will remain closed.

Smokin' Zees, which started off as a food truck, opened its brick-and-mortar spot in October. The closure is due to medical reasons, not due to a lack of demand for pulled pork and ribs.

In fact, locals seemed to love the food.

"Excellent food. I had the brisket sandwich today, and it was exceptionally good. The Mac n cheese was very good. This is now our go to restaurant," wrote patron Kim Davis on the restaurant's Facebook page.

The restaurant was last open around Feb. 17, which is when the owners announced the two-week closure via Facebook. The News Tribune reported that the owners began removing equipment from the restaurant last week.
