Lakewood SR 512 Park And Ride Reopening Soon
After a more than three-month closure, commuters will be able to use the SR 512 park-and-ride again.

LAKEWOOD, WA - Commuters, rejoice. Lakewood's SR 512 park-and-ride facility will reopen Monday after a more than three-month closure, according to Sound Transit.
The facility closed on June 11 for major upgrades. The work was originally supposed to last about four months. The project also came in about $250,000 under the estimated $2.5 million budget.
Here are the upgrades commuters can expect to see on Monday, according to Sound Transit:

- Upgraded LED lighting
- New lighting poles for more lighting throughout the facility
- New shelter roofs, paint, lights, and new glass
- New benches plus a doubling of the number of seats
- Updated curb ramps and accessible parking
- Newly-numbered parking stalls, making it easier for people to find their cars at the end of the day;
- New, brightly-painted parking stall striping, which will help people better see stall outlines and avoid two-spot parking;
- Curbing and concrete repair, including a complete replacement of the transit center surface from asphalt to concrete to better accommodate the weight of buses; and
- New greenery in the transit center in a formerly-unused driveway off S. Tacoma Way.
The park-and-ride serves Pierce Transit routes 3 and 4; Sound Transit routes 574, 580, 592, and 594; Intercity Transit routes 603, 605, 612, and 620; and GO-JBLM Transit Route 2.
