Local Hero Honored at City Council Meeting
PFC Jose Delgado was speechless after being recognized by Lakewood Police and Fire officials including Mayor Richardson for his heroic actions on July 24.
PFC Jose Delgado didn't say much, except that that he'd do it over and over again if he had to.
The 22-year-old Army medic didn't say much, but he didn't have to because his actions did all the talking when he saved the leg of Lakewood resident Mary Healey and possibly her life on July 24 at at 76 gas station at the intersection of Bridgeport Way and 108th Street.
At the Lakewood City Council meeting, Mayor Douglas Richardson, Police Chief Bret Farrar and Fire Chief Ken Sharp all spoke to PFC Delgado’s heroic actions and thanked him for his bravery. Chief Sharp presented him with a plaque, as well as a belt to replace the one he used as a tourniquet for the patient. She was also in the audience, recovering from her injuries.
