Washington’s newest millionaire almost walked away from a Lottery Check-A-Ticket machine before a $1 million notification popped up on the screen. The Graham man purchased the “Washington’s Millionaire VI” Scratch ticket on January 19 from H Mart (8720 S. Tacoma Way) in Lakewood and thought he won something, but never imagined a prize this big.

He explained, “When I scratched the ticket in my car, I thought, ‘This has to be wrong.’ I took it into the store to scan it and double check. Nothing showed up immediately and I was getting ready to leave.”

After the prize amount finally flashed on the screen, the man said he texted his wife, because he was too exited to talk. She didn’t believe him until he got home. “We’re both still in a stage of shock. I’ve never dreamed of anything like this!” The man told Lottery officials he plans to take his wife on a beautiful cruise to celebrate.

The winner said he has won small amounts before, but picked this game because of its name. “I saw ‘millionaire’ on the ticket and thought, ‘That’s the one.’”
