Man Jumps Off Nisqually River Bridge After Chase
Pierce County deputies were following the suspect until his car caught fire near the Nisqually River Bridge.

DUPONT, WA - A suspect who fled down I-5 from Pierce County Sheriff's officers jumped off the Nisqually River Bridge after his car caught fire, according to authorities. Thurtson County deputies later caught the man and brought him to jail on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and felony eluding.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. in the southbound lanes. Southbound I-5 was blocked, but state police were attempting to remove the suspect's car quickly.
Stolen vehicle fled southbound I 5 followed by special ops team of Sheriffs Dept. Vehicle caught fire at Nisqually Bridge. Suspect jumped off bridge into river. I 5 blocked. Air and water rescue units dispatched.
