Whiz Kid's accomplishment: David, who helped lead the Lancers’ football team to the 3A state quarterfinals before losing to Bellevue 35-14, excelled as the team's starting quarterback. As a signal-caller, the senior completed 107 of 182 passes for 2,054 yards and 27 touchdowns.
But football isn’t all David does.

At Lakes, he carries a 3.7 grade-point average while balancing athletics. He also plays basketball and is an executive mentor and serves as senior class vice president.
After high school, he hopes to play football at a smaller college that offers challenging academic opportunities. He has not settled on a major yet, but is considering film editing, computer science or engineering.
Whiz Kid's key to awesomeness: David said that he benefits from connecting well with others and enjoying everything he does.
He got into student government after a friend suggested he would be a great fit for Lakes’ ASB. After that, he started hanging out in the ASB class when he had time.
David’s favorite thing about being a senior is “looking around at the same great kids and seeing how much everyone has developed since freshman year.”
And, of course, he added, “Football, too.”
“I love the family attitude that football supplies,” he said. “Football has built relationships with teammates that will no doubt last a lifetime.”
Knowing that his playing days in orange and blue are over makes David a bit melancholy.
“I’m going to miss Lakes football,” he said. “I hate thinking about how this is the last season we are all together.”
