Whiz Kid's accomplishment: Ga-Young, a senior, is Clover Park’s student-body president. She is also vice president of the National Honor Society and Key Club, and volunteers at St. Joseph Medical Center every week. She also plays tennis in her spare time.

After high school, Ga-Young plans to attend a four-year university with a prestigious medical school and eventually become a surgeon. Among the schools she is applying to are Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Harvard and the University of Washington.

Whiz Kid's key to awesomeness: Ga-Young said that being involved in student government has made the difference for her.

“It has really opened me up to being more involved, more outgoing and to realize myself and the changes we need to make in the community,” she said.

She first got involved with ASB as a freshman, when her mom encouraged her to run for class president – “and ever since then, I’ve been hooked!” Ga-Young went on to be president of both her sophomore and junior classes and then, as she calls it, “the grand slam” of being school president in her final year of high school.

“ASB has affected me in such a positive way that it was a no-brainer that I was going to stick with it through my entire high-school career,” she said.

Ga-Young said her favorite thing about being a senior is knowing that even though the prospect of college is a bit scary, this is the green-and-gold grand finale for the Class of 2012.

“And it can only be the best it can be,” she said.
