Whiz Kid's key to awesomeness: Margie said that the people she surrounds herself with every day – both her family and what she calls her Lancer family – are what inspires her.

“I couldn’t do anything without a great support system and people who believe in me,” she said.

Margie said she is excited to be a senior. That title means that Lakes’ underclassmen, “whether they admit it or not, look up to us, and it’s the perfect opportunity to be role models and leaders.”

She feels that it is important to know how much impact the Class of 2012 can have on the younger students.

One way Margie is a leader is through ASB, which she got involved with when her best friend convinced her to run for office as a freshman, “and ever since, I’ve had a passion for being involved.”

Becoming school president as senior was a goal – and a way for her to make a lasting impression in her final year at Lakes.

“I’m so excited to continue to work alongside all of our leadership kids to (create) a better Lakes,” she said.
