Oregon Man, 80, Dies In Crash With Semi On I-5
The Beaverton, Ore., man died Sunday night in a crash with a semitrailer near Grand Mound.

GRAND MOUND, WA - An 80-year-old man from Beaverton, Ore., died late Sunday night in a crash with a semitrailer along I-5 south of Olympia. The crash happened just before midnight Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-5 near 216th Avenue Southwest. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Washington State Patrol, but the driver of the semitrailer was arrested on a vehicular homicide charge.
According to state police, Edward Chambers, and his passenger, Scott Anderson, 19, of Hillsboro, Ore., were driving northbound in a 1993 Subaru Legacy. At some point, according to state police, the semitrailer, driven by a 36-year-old man from Yelm, hit Chambers' car. Chambers' car left the road and came to rest in the ditch alongside the highway.
According to KOMO News, Chambers had pulled over because his car was overheating.

Chambers died at the scene, but Anderson was taken to St. Peter Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. They were both wearing seat belts.
