Pierce County Coronavirus Update: 40 New Cases, 1 New Death
There are 40 additional coronavirus cases and one additional death reported in Pierce County as of Thursday.
PIERCE COUNTY, WA – There are 40 additional coronavirus cases and one additional death reported in Pierce County as of Thursday, according to newly released data from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
Health officials identified the newly-reported death as a woman in her 80s from Tacoma with underlying health conditions.
To date, there have been 7,065 coronavirus cases and 157 coronavirus-related deaths in the county. Over the past 14 days, there have been 518 reported cases and the 14-day case rate per 100,000 people is 57.4.

According to health officials, the 20-39 age group has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, at 40 percent over the last two weeks.

The breakdown in cases by age group is as follows:
- 0-19: 14 percent
- 20-39: 40 percent
- 40-59: 29 percent
- 60-79: 14 percent
- 80+: 4 percent

- Bonney Lake: 176 cases; 3 deaths
- Central Pierce County: 430 cases; 9 deaths
- East Pierce County: 238 cases; 4 deaths
- Edgewood/Fife/Milton: 295 cases; 8 deaths
- Frederickson: 263 cases; 7 deaths
- Gig Harbor Area: 192 cases; 3 deaths
- Graham: 239 cases; 1 death
- Key Peninsula: 56 cases; 1 death
- Lake Tapps/Sumner Area: 226 cases
- Lakewood: 652 cases; 10 deaths
- Parkland: 384 cases; 12 deaths
- Puyallup: 422 cases; 13 deaths
- South Hill: 369 cases; 9 deaths
- South Pierce County: 170 cases; 3 deaths
- Spanaway: 330 cases; 8 deaths
- Tacoma: 2,189 cases; 49 deaths
- University Place: 283 cases; 16 deaths
- Unknown: 78 cases
In Pierce county, there have been 763 hospitalizations and 121,149 coronavirus tests.
