Pierce County Council Meeting In Lakewood Tonight
The council will vote on a proposed mental health sales tax.

LAKEWOOD, WA - The Pierce County Council will hold its regular session meeting tonight at City Hall as part of its revolving in-district meeting series.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m., and the biggest item on the agenda is a vote on a mental health sales tax, which would increase the local sales tax by one-tenth of 1 percent to better fund behavioral health services. The Council has been discussing implementing the sales tax since September. Prior to that, the county had commissioned a study on mental health services, which revealed gaps in care.
