Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Dies Suddenly While On Duty
A Pierce County Sheriff's deputy died Tuesday while on patrol in the Parkland-Spanaway area.

PIERCE COUNTY, WA – A Pierce County Sheriff's deputy died Tuesday while on patrol in the Parkland-Spanaway area.
Deputy Sheriff Daryl Shuey, 57, was found unresponsive in a parking lot in the 14900 block of Pacific Ave. S. by a passerby just after 6 a.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. Deputies and medics attempted CPR before Shuey was transported to a local hospital.
The Sheriff's Department was notified after 7 a.m. that he had died from an apparent medical emergency.

Shuey served with the department since 1994.
"Our chaplains, peer support, and Sheriff Bomkamp are with the Shuey family at this incredibly difficult time," the department wrote on its Facebook page. "We are asking all of you to keep Daryl, his family and our deputies in your hearts today as we grieve his sudden passing."
