Pierce Deputies Kill Man During Domestic Incident
The shooting happened Saturday night when deputies confronted the man at a home along 161st Street South in Spanaway.

SPANAWAY, WA - A 50-year-old man was shot and killed by Pierce County deputies on Saturday night during a domestic violence incident. The victim allegedly moved his hand toward a sidearm when a deputy opened fire.
The incident happened near 9:30 p.m. Saturday along the 100 block of 161st Street South, about two blocks east of Pacific Avenue. A woman called 911 to report that her armed boyfriend was drunk and destroying their home. She had locked herself in the bathroom.
When deputies arrived, the man appeared in the doorway with a gun in a holster on his hip. According to police, the suspect did not obey orders to keep his hands away from the gun. The man then reportedly drew his gun and pointed it at the deputies, spurring them to open fire. Deputies later found the man with a .40 caliber handgun.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he died. His identity had not been released as of Monday morning. The woman inside the home was not injured.
