Driving to University Place from Steilacoom yesterday, my wife was turned back at the Chambers Creek bridge (by the old paper mill) by a police officer. Prior to that, she pulled over to let a couple of speeding patrol cars (mostly SUVs, she says) pass. Looking up the hill as she turned around, she saw a fairly heavy police presence--officers, cars, etc--and what looked to be a number of rather somber-looking civilian spectators standing around. Maddening thing is, even after checking all the usual on-line police-blotter-type sites, we can't find a word about what may have been going down! Can anybody out there enlighten us?
