Police Seek Witnesses To I-5 Crash That Killed Oregon Man

Edward Chambers, 80, died Sunday night along I-5 after his car was hit by a semitrailer.

CENTRALIA, WA - Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a deadly crash that happened Sunday night along northbound I-5. Edward Chambers, 80, of Beaverton, Ore., died after his car was hit by a semitrailer. The driver of the semi was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

According to state police, Chambers and his passenger, Scott Anderson, 19, of Hillsboro, Ore., were driving north to Rochester when their 1993 Subaru Legacy began experiencing engine trouble. Chambers may have been slowing down to attend to the problem when his vehicle was hit, according to state patrol.

Anderson was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
