STEILACOOM, WA - The son of a woman who was killed Monday night by a minivan operated by one of her children has established a fundraiser to help pay for funeral costs and other expenses. The woman was identified in the GoFundMe fundraiser as Shannon N. Macleod of Steilacoom. The accident happened Monday at Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom.

MacLeod's son, Nathan, set up the fundraiser to help pay for his mother's funeral, but also to help his siblings.

"She gave birth to me at the young age of 15," Nathan MacLeod wrote. "All she cared about was her kids. Did everything to take care of them no matter what. Her baby is alive and in the hospital we need all the help and support we can get. Please help if you can I don't ask for a lot but please. "

Nathan MacLeod is trying to raise $5,000 for his family.

West Piece firefighters responded to the beach around 4 p.m. Monday on a report of a vehicle accident. At the scene, they found MacLeod trapped under the minivan. Her 6-year-old had accidentally put the car in gear, and MacLeod was hit by the rolling vehicle. Firefighters were able to pull the mother out from underneath the car, but she died on the way to the hospital.

The baby was saved via emergency C-section, however, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

The 6-year-old was not hurt in the accident, according to the report.
