Public Memorial For Deputy Daniel McCartney Wednesday
Pierce County deputy Daniel A. McCartney was shot and killed Jan. 7 after a home invasion robbery in Frederickson.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A public memorial service for slain Pierce County deputy Daniel A. McCartney will be held Wednesday in Parkland. The memorial will be held at Pacific Lutheran University's Olson Auditorium.
Anyone interested in attending should be aware there will no parking available at PLU. The Church Of All Nations along 112th Street East in Parkland will offer parking. There will be shuttle service between the church and PLU beginning at 11:15 a.m. The memorial service begins at 1 p.m.
McCartney, a husband and father of three, was shot and killed while pursuing two home invasion suspects last Sunday. McCartney exchanged gunfire with the two suspects and died after a bullet hit him above his bulletproof vest.

The two people arrested in McCartney's death, Frank Pawul, 33, and Brenda Troyer, 52, were charged in court last Thursday with murder. A third suspect, Henry Carden, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head near where McCartney was shot.
