Missing Hikers Found Near Mount Rainier: PCSO

A man from Lakewood and a man from Olympia are missing after they failed to return from a hike on Sunday.

FAIRFAX, WA — The two hikers reported missing in at Mount Rainier National Park were found on Monday night, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

A 42-year-old Lakewood hiker and a 47-year-old man from Olympia were supposed to return from a hike around Mother Mountain on Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, the Pierce County Sheriff's helicopter was assisting in the search, as were volunteers from the county's search-and-rescue team, K9 dogs, and county 4X4 units.

The Mother Mountain trail is strenuous 16-mile loop that reaches a peak elevation of 6,350 feet.

A vehicle the men had used to reach the trail was found along the Carbon River Reserve Road, according to the sheriff's office.
