Suspect In Deputy's Murder To Be Held Until Thursday

Frank Pawul, the prime suspect in the shooting death of deputy Daniel McCartney, will be held without bail until Thursday.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A 52-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly driving two men to a Frederickson home where they were confronted by Pierce County deputy Daniel McCartney. The News Tribune reported the woman was jailed for rendering criminal assistance.

McCartney confronted two men seen running from the Frederickson home Sunday night. The 34-year-old father of three may have engaged in a gun battle with the two suspects before he was shot. McCartney died at a hospital in Tacoma early Monday morning.

One of the suspects who fled the scene in Frederickson ended up dead of a gunshot wound. A second suspect, Frank Pawul, is facing a murder charge in McCartney's death. Pawul was arrested Monday morning by a state trooper and was later identified as the prime suspect in McCartney's killing.
