Second Victim In Fatal Lakewood I-5 Crash Identified

Three people died early Thursday morning in a deadly hit-and-run crash along south I-5 in Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, WA - State police have identified a second victim in the fatal crash along I-5 early Thursday morning. Sherry Rodriguez, 44, of Kelso, was a passenger in the Honda SUV that flipped over in the southbound lanes.

On Thursday, state police identified the driver who allegedly caused the crash as Montrell Red, 23, of Tacoma. The deceased driver of the Honda was identified as Jaime Pelayo, 30, also of Kelso.

According to police, Red allegedly crossed all lanes of I-5 with his 2002 Nissan Maxima, hitting Pelayo's 1999 Honda CRV. The impact caused Pelayo's SUV to flip over and hit the New York Avenue overpass. All three inside the SUV died at the scene. Red allegedly kept driving from the scene of the crash.

The third victim, a 51-year-old man from Longview, had not been identified as of Friday morning.

Red is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, and weapons and drug possession charges.
