'Significant' Rainfall Forecast For This Weekend
The rain that fell this week around Puget Sound was just a preview. It will be much wetter this weekend.

LAKEWOOD, WA - Buy your movie tickets, grab a new book, or buy a board game: The National Weather Service is predicting a particularly soggy weekend ahead, one that might keep you indoors for most of Saturday and Sunday.
The weather service isn't predicting how much rain will fall, just that it will be a lot - enough to cause some minor flooding around the region. Right now, it looks like the heaviest rain will fall in the southwest Puget Sound area.
"A period of significant rainfall is forecast by weather prediction models from later Saturday through Sunday. This rainfall may produce minor flooding on area rivers starting Saturday night and continuing through Sunday or Sunday night," reads the NWS hydrologic outlook. "While it is difficult at this time to pinpoint exactly where and when the heaviest rainfall and highest threat for flooding will occur, it appears that the greatest threat will be over the southern half of Western Washington Saturday night and Sunday."

The impending rain is part of this long stretch of moisture we've been experiencing all week. It's been nicknamed "the big dark," a string of storms that at one point stretched from the Pacific Coast all the way to China.
