Spice It Up at Lakewood Thai Cuisine

It was a drizzly Thursday afternoon and I was in the mood for some spicy food. I'd driven by many times before but I hadn't actually checked it out.

If you've ever been to a Thai restaurant, you know the menu can be hard to read. An inexperienced Thai food eater might find some level of difficulty ordering. I scrolled through and struggled finding a dish I might enjoy since I'm not big on veggies.

But since the menu is pretty extensive, there are plenty of options to choose from. I ordered a pair of fresh rolls (healthy fresh lettuce rolled with rice paper with chicken and shrimp served with peanut sauce) and the chicken pad thai (thin rice noodle stir-fried with egg, bean sprout and green onion, served with ground peanut and fresh lime).

The lunch plate alone wouldn't have filled me up. Since I paid about $15 for both the appetizer and lunch, I'd recommend ordering the chicken or pork pad Thai off the dinner menu ($8.75).

The inside is fairly small. There's a long hallway with tables for customers to sit down. I found a corner table near the window. The restaurant was nearly empty as I ate my lunch.

The wrapped vegetables and chicken tasted fresh with a healthy topping of warm peanut sauce on almost every bite. The chicken pad Thai contained a sweet and spicy flavor. I told them I wanted the level three, with one being mild and five the hottest.

Overall, Lakewood Thai Cuisine was a positive experience. The food was good and I liked the customer service.
