As the owner of local computer & electronics repair shop in Lakewood, I really want people to know this problem on Apple laptops. I have seen this problem 3 times for last one month on my clients’ computers.
I always get repair jobs related to the bad/old laptop batteries, but this is very unusual.
The first picture was taken from 2012 Macbook Pro (A1278), and the others from 2011 Macbook Air.

All three clients with these swollen batteires brought their Macs to my shop to fix their touchpad which stop working. Each moment I was removing the batteries from the systems was very scary...
I have seen the same problem often on iPhone 3 and 4/4s, but not on Mac laptops.

The battery can be exploded. So, if your mac shows swollen touchpad, check the battery first by using small phillips screw drivers.
I hope this can help any family to be out of unwanted fire in their home.
