Terry Bader on Staying Mindful at Work and Home
Terry Bader offers tips for staying mindful at work and home.

In a society that spends a significant amount of time plugged into technology, it can difficult to be mindful and present each day. Whether you’re spending time at home or in the workplace, you may struggle to be present. If you’re looking to improve your awareness of your surroundings and connect more with other people, there are a few basic steps to take.
Remove Distractions
Distractions can make it easy to forget to live in the moment and remain mindful. Remove distractions that can make your schedule too busy or aren’t contributing to your life. You may want to delete a few social media accounts or cut out your time watching television throughout the week to focus more on what matters.
Stay in Contact with Your Loved Ones
Due to a busy schedule, you may forget to remain in communication with your family members and friends. Your relationships can begin to suffer, and you may feel less fulfilled in life if you don’t maintain the bond that you share with those you love. Begin scheduling more meet-ups or lunch dates to ensure you don’t lose touch with those who play an essential role in your life.

Remain Curious
A sense of curiosity can be challenging to hold onto with age but is necessary to become more mindful in different settings. Take notice of how your loved ones are changing or are evolving and stay engaged in their lives. Look around you in the workplace and reflect on how the business has changed. Ask questions and make time for conversations with both your family members and co-workers.
Set a Timer
When you have to complete specific tasks, set a timer to limit the amount of time that you spend working or completing chores around the house. If you devote yourself entirely to the task and know that the timer is ticking, then it can allow you to become more productive, according to huffingtonpost.com.

Improve Your Ability to Listen
Listening more to your spouse or children each day can allow you to strengthen your relationships and offer more support when they’re struggling or need your help. By paying attention to their tone or words, you’ll know how to respond by understanding how they’re feeling.
