Track & Field: Lakes and Clover Park Compete in Cross-city Rivalry

Lancers control most events while the Warriors' Isom Brown leaps to first-place finishes in the hurdles.

Lakes junior sprinter and football athlete Cedric Dozier earned a season-best in the 100-meter event with a time of 11.34 seconds against Clover Park and Bonney Lake during a triple dual track & field meet at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood on Thursday.

Marquin Russell, a Lakes sophomore, won the 200 (22.64) and 400 (53.01). He's ranked second in the 200 in the Class 3A West Central District behind Davon Dansby of Timerline (49.97) and is also ranked third in the district in the 400.

Clover Park sophomore Isom Brown earned Clover Park points in the hurdling events with first-place finishes in the 110 (16.26) and 300 intermediate (43.03) but it wasn't enough as Lakes boys team ran away with a 91-53 victory.

In the high jump, Lakes' Taylor McAllister leaped to a first-place finish with a mark of 5-foot, 10 inches.

On the girls' side, the Lancers beat the Warriors 92-24 as Lakes senior Brooke Mortensen won the discus with a toss of 107-10 1/2 and sophomore Jasmine Williams swept the competition in the 100 (13.36) and 200 (28.08).

Lakes will be competing in the Tacoma Invitational tomorrow at Lincoln High School, as 38 teams from across all classifications will compete in the first major track event of the season.
