Victim Says Pierce County Deputies Are 'Amazing' For Finding Stolen Pickup

The victim's car was stolen in Lakewood and recovered by deputies near Puyallup early Thursday morning.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A man whose pickup truck was stolen from a Lakewood repair shop wrote a thank-you note calling Pierce County deputies "amazing" after they were able to quickly recover the truck. The theft happened early Thursday morning along South Steele Street. The truck was recovered a short time later along Canyon Road near Puyallup.

"I want to extend my thanks to all of the deputies that responded to 112th and Canyon Rd this morning in order to recover my F350. Your response was amazing and not just because of last night's events, I appreciate and support what you do 100%. Thank you," read the note.

At around 1 a.m. Thursday, deputies got a report that a Ford F-350 was stolen out of Lakewood. The victim knew the crime was in progress because he got a GPS alert on his phone. The victim was able to point police in the direction of where the truck was headed.

Police caught up to the truck at a fast food restaurant along Canyon Road near SR 512. A woman was sitting in the stolen truck, and a man was standing outside it. Police detained the pair, but they initially denied any involvement in the theft of the truck.

However, when the victim came to the scene, he saw the male suspect was wearing the victim's sweatshirt, which had been inside the truck. The suspect was booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen car and possession of stolen property.
