Shooting on Community Transit bus in Marysville under investigation (heraldnet.com) β A shooting on a Community Transit bus along State Avenue at Grove Street in Marysville Tuesday night is under active investigation, though no one was hit by the gunfire. Deputies say a fight between several men led to a shot being fired before they fled on foot, with Marysville police using a drone and K9 to help detain two people on unrelated warrants. One bystander hurt his hand and was treated as a precaution.

2. 68-year-old man accused of keeping 40-plus terriers in cramped trailer appears in court (komonews.com) β Marysville officials say more than 40 West Highland terriers rescued from a cramped trailer in the city are now adopted or in foster homes, while the 68-year-old owner faces 43 counts of second-degree animal cruelty. At Marysville Municipal Court, he pleaded not guilty as prosecutors described dogs allegedly crammed three or four per kennel with little water and no food, while the Everett Animal Shelter reports strong community support for the animals' recovery.

Prep roundup: Kamiak freshmen make impact at cross country meet (heraldnet.com) β Marysville tennis fans saw a crosstown showdown as Marysville Getchell topped Marysville Pilchuck 5-2 at Totem Middle School, with tight singles and doubles matches decided in tiebreaks. The roundup also recaps strong cross country performances and tennis results from schools across Snohomish County, spotlighting standout freshmen and dominant team wins.

Norman Archibald Charitable Foundation (insidephilanthropy.com) β Marysville residents may benefit from grants the Norman Archibald Charitable Foundation has already directed to the Marysville Community Foodbank and similar local service groups. The Seattle-based funder backs capital and equipment projects across Northwest Washington, especially for education, youth, housing, health, environment, and arts. Local nonprofits can apply four times a year through the Seattle Foundation portal.
