Covenant Church Names Peter Sung as New Lead Pastor

On Sunday, August 19, welcomed Peter Sung to become the new Lead Pastor. 

Pastor Sung preached to a full-house of 320 who said they were moved by his contagious enthusiasm for Jesus Christ and eagerness to join this ministry on the island and beyond.

Sung will follow in the footsteps of pastor Dr. Jon Peterson, who was in 2011.

As Director of Church Planting and Revitalization, Sung's impressive record includes "planting" six new Covenant congregations in a 12-year period while serving as Associate Superintendent of the East Coast Conference. In 2009 he was called to the position of Director of Church Planting for the Evangelical Covenant Church of America, and stepped down from that position earlier this year.

"Through this experience" he said, "I have come to a greater appreciation of the Covenant."

With his wife, Susie, and four young daughters, ages 3-9, he is now eager to be serving in a local church ministry.  The family will be moving from Chicago to the Island in September and he will begin his tenure on Sunday, October 7.
