LEADERSHIP EASTSIDE OFFERS VOLUNTEER WORK PARTY CONTEST

Know a worthy organization working to address needs on the Eastside?  Now is the time to make their work known!

Once again Leadership Eastside is offering its “Serve Our Community” contest, where a nonprofit organization, will receive a day-long work party made up of graduates, current classmates and friends of the Eastside's premier Leadership organization

The non-profit selected will be able to designate the work to be done, the number of volunteers needed, and the start and end time.

“Donating our time and talents is one way for us to put our money where our mouth is,” said Leadership Eastside President James Whitfield.  “We are all about working with local organizations to improve the community. It is fun and gratifying to roll up our sleeves and actually make something happen from start to finish in a single day.  It’s a win-win for both the organization and the participants.”

The concentrated effort is expected to help the selected organization better fulfill its mission by tackling a project that might otherwise not be done for lack of staffing.

The nonprofit will be chosen on the basis of how significant an impact the completed project would make on the community.

Last year volunteers from Leadership Eastside helped two non-profit organizations: Homeward Pet Adoption Center received assistance with its annual fundraising auction; and Friends of Youth received  an interior and exterior makeover of one of its shelters for homeless and runaway girls.

The contest is open to all 501(c)(3) organizations on the Eastside. To enter online, go to

Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on February 29th, 2012.
