Two Mercer Island Residents on Make-A-Wish local Board

Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington Elects New Board Leadership and New Member to Board of Trustees

SEATTLE- Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington, the local nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, is pleased to announce its new Board of Trustee leadership for fiscal year 2012-2013, including two Mercer Island residents.

Brian Mock, Chair-Elect

Brian Mock is the managing director for direct investments at Russell Investments. In this role, he is respobsible for the ledership, portfolio management, implementation, research & development and growth for Russell's global direct investments program. Mock is a member of the Russell Implementation Servies, Inc. executive committee, an SEC registered investment advisor and FINRA member firm and serves as a member of Russell's Investment Strategy Committee. Prior to this position, he was a senior member of Russell's portfolio trading group and a trading specialist in the mutual fund trading department. Prior to joining Russell, Mock enjoyed five years with Bank of America. He earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Economics from the University of Washington and resides with his wife and three children in Mercer Island.

New to the Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington Board of Trustees is:

Jeff Dunn

Dunn is an Associate Director in the private equity investment group of Vulcan Inc., the family investment office for Paul G. Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. Prior to working at Vulcan, he was an investment banking analyst for Greenhill & Co. in New York. Dunn graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with a concentration in finance. He is a board member of the Portland Trail Blazers, The Hospital Club in London and Vulcan Energy Corporation. He resides in Mercer Island with his wife and two children.

Since 1986, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington has granted wishes to mroe than 5,100 children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This year, the local chapter will grant about 300 wishes. A wish come true provides children and their families with an oppurtunity to return to normalcy while it also strengthens their family, as well as the community. The wish experience also provides children living with life-threatening medical conditions with a sense of greater happiness, improved strength and a desire to overcome their illnesses.
