April 28: Parent Talk Lecture at the - Creating Healthy Eaters
- Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- We all want to raise kids who make healthy food choices, but it can be challenging creating those good habits. This program for parents of infants to Kindergartens at the Stroum Jewish Community Center Mercer Island features Beverly Pressey, MS, RD, mom and author of Simple and Savvy Strategies for Creating Healthy Eaters. She’ll help parents learn how to minimize food conflicts, create happy family meal times, how to successfully introduce children to a wide variety of foods and prepare healthy meals at home.

April 29: Movie Night Parents Night Out at

April 30: Mercer Island Preschool Association (MIPA) Circus at
- Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Mercer Island Preschool Association's Circus began in 1966 as a Dr. Seuss inspired carnival called Circus McGurkus for the children of Mercer Island. Since then, it has grown into a festival that attracts hundreds of families from all over Seattle and the Eastside. The 45th annual MIPA Circus offers a toddlerpalooza of fun including pony rides, face painting, cupcake walk, bouncy house and live entertainment. Toddler pleasing snacks and beverages for sale.
- Cost: Free admission. Some activities require tickets which are 50 cents each.
May 1: The Presents J-Serve 2011 “Paint Out the Hate”

- Time: 1:30 to 5 p.m.
- J-Serve is the National Day of Jewish Youth Service. This year’s theme is “Paint Out the Hate”. Participants will be working with local non-profits to paint over grafitti. J-Serve will start at the Stroum Jewish Community Center and will be working at sites all around Seattle. May 2: Thistle Theater presents Brother Coyote and Sister Fox puppet show at the
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Brother Coyote wants one thing and one thing only, to catch and eat one of Dona Conchita's plump chickens. Quick-witted Sister Fox is always one step ahead of him, waiting to trick him with one of her clever schemes to keep all the chickens to herself! All ages will enjoy this delightful and humorous puppet adaption of a beloved Mexican folktale complete with Spanish songs and plenty of chickens!
