Body Of Mercer Island Teen Who Died Glissading Recovered

Benjamin Gore, 19, died in a glissading accident June 3 in the Cascades, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - Rescue crews have recovered the body of Benjamin Gore, 19, who died in early June in a glissading accident in the Cascades. Gore went missing on June 3 near Asgaard Pass, which is about 30 miles due north of Cle Elum. Authorities said that Gore fell into deep snow while glissading.

The Chelan County Mountain Rescue team recovered Gore on Sunday and have turned his body over to the Chelan County Coroner.

Glissading is the practice of sliding down a snow field on your feet or using an ice ax. Gore is believed to have fallen into a 30-foot deep hole in the snow while hiking with his sister.

Gore was a graduate of Mercer Island High School and worked at the Mercerwood Shore Club, according to his Facebook page.
