A NOOK Book I'm reading with increasing dismay-

The Lost Bank: The Story of Washington Mutual-The Biggest Bank Failure in American History by Wall Street Journal Reporter Kirsten Grind.

For many years, I was happy to recommend Washington Mutual as a source of much of the financing for the many custom family homes I designed on Mercer Island and elsewhere. As a school child in my native Seattle, I learned habits of thrift (as did so many of my classmates) by participating in WM's Passbook Savings Program weekly.

This well-researched and written book details how this fine institution was ruined by financial freebooters including well-known respected locals as well as many imports.
