How to Deal With the Rain
The many people moving here from sunnier places (most are) have to learn how to deal with Seattle's rainy coastal climate.
In our sometimes (OK, often if truth be known) rainy Pacific Northwest home here on Mercer Island we're really fortunate in that we have lots of good glass companies who can do a good job of installing the oh-so needed large overhead (bronze) glass skylights that won't leak.
With the required wide overhangs needed to fend off the rain, these are the only answer to getting enough natural light inside our Pac-NW homes. I'm a Seattle native and was born in Providence Hospital. I spent my first 14 years in Spokane, East of the mountains so I've known a sunnier clime.
