Our South Mercer Island 'NorthWest Contemporary' Home was a 'Tear Down'
"Heritage" properties on Mercer Island are coming on the market as their long-time owners move into retirement condos or apartments and need to sell their comfortable, too large suburban homes.
Alterations and Additions have long been an important part of my AIA practice. While I've done many new home projects starting from the ground up, taking an existing home and improving it is so very satisfying. Our own home on the South end of Mercer Island is a case in point. This was a "tear-down" which we were able to save from the demolition companies. We've completely rebuilt it as well as restored the large overgrown garden.
So-called “Heritage” properties in the Seattle/MI area are now coming on the market as their long-time owners move into retirement condos and/or apartments and want and/or need to sell their nice outlying suburban homes sooner or later.
These NorthWest Contemporary homes are on choice sites in mature neighborhoods and many/most have not been on the market for all these many years. They and their gardens have been well cared-for but may well need some judicious updating.

I'll be posting some of Patty's garden photos.
