What's to like about these "MCM" (Mid-Century Modern) homes in these foreclosure days?

There are a number of these Mid-Century Moderns (MCMs)on the Real Estate market today- not all of the same quality.

For one thing, these were usually well designed by good architects specializing in residential design.

These homes are called "Mid-Century Modern" because back then was the heyday of architect-designed homes that were carefully fitted to the needs of the owners and the properties involved.

There are a number of these on the real estate market today- not all of the same quality. Anyone who is considering buying one should ask an MCM architect (such as myself) to advise them as to original design quality and updating possibilities.

Often located on the choice lots in established neighborhoods, most of these have mature gardens not needing to be planted. Many of these have had a number of owners- some better than others at maintenance. Perhaps the main thing that sets these homes apart is the construction-many are "Post and Beam" and are laid out showing these structural beams and other features per the Floor Plan (shown) for this custom home in Fauntleroy, West Seattle overlooking the Ferry to nearby Vashon Island as well as Seattle's Lincoln Park.
