You can do a lot with a "Mid-Century Modern" to suit your very own tastes, without undertaking a tear-down to get the home you want. Might be cheaper, too.

The very nicest thing about these flexible "Mid-Century Modern" homes is that you're free to do a lot with them to suit your very own tastes.

Renovation and design work is a very worthwhile pursuit that can really give you the best of both worlds — preserving a well-made existing structure; and designing the home you want within that space. Professionals can take those ideas to the drawing board to come up with a workable, realistic solution to their own housing needs and/or wants.

And of course, these design concepts have to be presented in buildable form that a practical home builder is able to put together in a good, efficient manner and will conform to local regulations at .

Personally, I've worked with many of these professionals in the past and I enjoyed every minute of it. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the fantastic work former local custom home builder Ray Brandes did. He recently passed away after helping me build over 70 projects and his handiwork still remains — giving people a well-made, aesthetically pleasing abode that they wanted. You'd be lucky if you happen to own one of the homes he helped build.
