"Clarinets for Conservation" @ Mercer Island Visual Arts League Gallery
Concert and Anita Miller Artist Reception at the MIVAL Gallery January 18, 2015, 2 – 4 PM.

Over the past year, Anita Miller has produced a large portfolio of watercolor paintings and clay pieces inspired by the non-profit group Clarinets for Conservation and their work in Tanzania, Africa. Clarinets for Conservation sends clarinet teachers and others skilled in music, dance, conservation and art to teach Tanzanian students and promote conservation of Tanzania’s national tree, the mpingo tree, that’s wood is used to make the clarinet. Working with a local conservation group, Clarinets for Conservation has planted thousands of trees around schools, in the community and even in a local police academy. In its fourth year, Clarinets for Conservation is expanding its teaching program from one school to several.
Please join us on January 18, 2015 from 2 - 4 PM at the MIVAL Gallery to view Anita’s work, enjoy some music and learn more about Clarinets for Conservation. Anita’s daughter Audrey Miller and Clarinets for Conservation head Michelle Von Haugg will be on hand to provide more information about the program in Tanzania. Anita will donate her portion of any proceeds from the sale of her art to Clarinets for Conservation.
