God is Still Speaking at the Congregational Church on Mercer Island

The Rev. Mark Travis and the congregation of the Congregational Church on Mercer Island at 4545 Island Crest Way invite you to come explore the way we nurture all seekers on their paths to know and serve God.

In the Congregational tradition, the responsibility for faith (what we believe) and practice (what we do about what we believe) rests upon each individual member.  We take a liberal approach to mainstream Christianity, in which all can flourish as we seek God individually and together.  Being a United Church of Christ (UCC), all decisions regarding the church are made by vote of church members in a meeting of the congregation, rather than by governing bodies outside of the church.  We also believe God still has a lot more to say, and we are to continue listening.

We seek to practice to pray every day, to study some portion of the Scriptures each day, so as to discover God’s will for our own lives on a daily basis.  As part of our discipleship, we also work to increase our love for one another.  We hope that our faith, love, and discipline will increase until they flow beyond our fellowship and become a blessing to others.

We are proud to be an Open and Affirming church, welcoming ALL of God's children.  We strive to provide a nurturing environment in which all can feel safe to be who they are as individuals by being mutually supportive and respectful of  differences. In fact, we called the Rev. Mark Travis, a gay pastor, to lead us spirituallly in January, 2009.

CCMI strives to be a community-serving church.  We offer our space for use by non-profit groups serving the local community as well as sponsor free service events that are open to all. We believe in keeping God's Earth clean and safe.  We hold an annual FREE Recycling Event in conjunction with 1Greenplanet.

We are a church that also believes in working and playing together.  There is always something interesting or fun going on at CCMI as you can see in the photos.
