Interim Dining Services Director Brings International Culinary Flair to Covenant Shores' Dining Department

Senior living community celebrates Cinco de Mayo with a festive banquet

Recently, Matt Lorenz accepted the position of Interim Dining Services Director at Covenant Shores, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities.

As the Regional Account Operations Manager for Sodexo Senior Services, Lorenz is accustomed to assisting senior living communities in a temporary capacity. In this role, he has had the opportunity of lending his services and expertise to more than 15 communities throughout the western United States.

“It is very interesting to visit the various senior living communities like Covenant Shores throughout Washington’s northwest region, and provide oversight and direction to the dining services departments,” states Lorenz. “It allows me the opportunity to interact with the residents, hear their feedback and implement new programs or procedures in our region.”

As a world traveler, Lorenz has visited almost 30 countries giving him the ability to quickly adapt to new environments and cultures, which has become an essential skill for his current position. This love of travel and interest in other cultures is also reflected in his culinary repertoire. “My favorite foods are Japanese or Asian fusion, and while working for Sodexo, I have been able to expose others to various cultures through a common denominator – food!”

“It has been a pleasure having Matthew at Covenant Shores while we search for our new Dining Services Director,” says Bruce Erickson, executive director at Covenant Shores. “He has been able to maintain the quality of service our residents have come to expect from our Dining Services department.”
