LAKESIDE SCHOOL'S RUMMAGE SALE 3/29-30
Lakeside School’s Parents Association welcomes the return of its famous Rummage Sale to campus, with 25,000 square feet of new and gently used merchandise. The school has hosted the Rummage Sale since 1950, when the Mothers’ Club raised $2,000; in the 1970s, it famously funded the purchase of Bill Gates' and Paul Allen's first computer. Recent sales have raised over $150,000 to help fund school operations and student financial aid. The sale will take place on Lakeside’s Upper School campus in the newly constructed The Paul G. Allen Athletics Center, as well as in the Wright Community Center. The sale will be open from 9a.m. to 4p.m. on Saturday, March 29 with its regular low prices. On Sunday, March 30, boutique merchandise can be bought for half price, and most items will be sold by the bagful from 9a.m. to closing at noon.
Parent volunteers collect donations year-round, and a schoolwide effort of parents, students, faculty, and staff come together to transform the gym, fieldhouse, and community center into an enormous weekend store. Departments offer men’s, women’s, teens’, and children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, sporting goods, glassware and kitchenware, household and garden items, books, furniture, electronics, collectibles, and musical instruments. This year, the sale will be especially large, and restocked over the course of the weekend, so afternoon shoppers will find fresh bargains.
