Mercer Island Burglar May Be Linked To Car Prowls

Police believe a man caught after burglarizing a Mercer Island home might be responsible for local car prowls.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - A man arrested over the weekend for burglarizing a home may be responsible for several car prowls on Mercer Island, and police are looking for possible victims.

Mercer Island police say a burglar entered an unlocked home along the 8400 block of Southeast 37th Street on Sunday and took a wallet, cell phone, car keys, and the a car parked at the home. No one was home at the time.

At the same time, there were a number of car prowls in that area, which is just south of the town area. The burglar was found later in Renton, and Mercer Island and Renton police arrested him. However, the burglar will not speak to police, they say. But they found evidence tying him to local car prowls.
