Mercer Island Police Conducting 'Operation Cookie Drop' Saturday

Girl Scout cookie season is almost over, so Mercer Island police and fire will hold a special cookie operation downtown Saturday.

MERCER ISLAND, WA - If you like Girl Scout Cookies, you only have about two days left to get them. Luckily, there will be a pretty good opportunity on Saturday in downtown Mercer Island.

The police and fire departments will co-host "Operation Cookie Drop" outside cookie hall - sorry, City Hall. The event will last from 9 to 11 a.m. and will feature about a dozen local Girl Scout troops.

Not only will you be able to get your cookie fix, but you'll be able to help U.S. military serving overseas get Girl Scout Cookies. The scouts will be collecting donations to send the baked goods to overseas service members.

And, the Girl Scouts will have a credit card reader at the event, so don't worry about bringing cash or a check book. You'll also be able to take photo with some of Mercer Island's finest and bravest cops and firefighters.

Come hungry - March 19 is the last day to buy Girl Scout Cookies.
