MOMS TALK about Thanksgiving Games

How do you encourage different generations to mingle at your holiday event?

Sometimes interaction among your guests doesn't happen as much as you'd like without a little nudge, especially when you've got a mulitgenerational guest list. There's more common ground than you'd think between the extremes of X-Box and Fox "News" Network.

Hands on activities work well, like puzzles or simple games like Yahtzee and chinese checkers. Ask the grandfolks what games they like, and they'll teach the kids games they've never heard of that aren't on the current top ten list. You can get twice the benefit by assigining pairs to tasks that also help with the meal such as peeling potatos, preparing rolls or setting the table.

You may find that when hands are busy moving, there is less pressure to come up with things to say --  the activity becomes the topic. And when everyone's had enough food and activity, we can all resort to the universal language -- Football.
