Nissim is a Seattle-based recording artist/producer, formerly known as D.Black. While his earlier recordings were filled with rap-music tales of guns, drugs, and violence, he found himself in the midst of a spiritual crisis. In 2009, after converting to Orthodox Judaism and with the release of “Ali’ Yah,” he was quickly showered with accolades. Nissim has performed at esteemed music festivals including SXSW, Capitol Hill Block Party, Sasquatch, and Bumbershoot and has shared the stage with Nas, Mos Def, Macklemore, Matisyahu, and more. Nissim is joined by Rabbi Simon Benzaquen, Rabbi Emeritus at Sephardic Bikur Holim in Seattle, in a unique team known as “the rabbi and the rapper.”
