Quick and Dirty Boat Gets the Job Done
A pair of Mercer Island High School Juniors recently competed in the Quick and Dirty boat building competition during the Seattle Maritime Festival.
This past weekend students Marek Prussak and Ezra Tucker participated in the Quick and Dirty boatbuilding event at the Seattle Maritime Fesitval.
Racing a boat of their own design and construction, the pair finished two heats of competition. Being the only student team in the event, Marrek and Ezra were happy with their results.
"It was lots of fun," Prussak said.

The pair was challenged to build a boat in under five hours with $100 in materials they had purchased themselves, then had to race it against other competitors.
Prussak admitted that their design was a little different, but it proved worthy.

"It worked pretty well," Prussak said.
This was the first time Prussak and Tucker had taken part in the event, and Prussak said they felt a little outclassed by the more experience teams, almost all of which seemed to consist of naval engineers.
"We had more doubters than supporters, but we came through in the end," Prussak said.
The pair hope to take part again next year and are hoping to add one more member to their team to maybe help even the odds a bit.
