Sherper Hits Game-Winner to Lift MI Girls Past Bellevue East in Lacrosse
Mercer Island Girls Lacrosse secured a last-minute goal to defeat Div. II state champion Bellevue East last night in Robinswood Park.

Tyler Sherper took a Dulce Moll feed in front of the crease and hit the game-winner with just eight seconds remaining to give Mercer Island its second girls high school lacrosse win of the season with an 18 -17 victory over Bellevue East, Wednesday at Robinswood Park.
The win over Bellevue East, which won the 2011 Division II state championship before the two girls high school divisions were consolidated in 2012, came after the Islanders’ Elena Skouras scored on a pass from Natalie Marques to knot the game at 17 – 17 with just 35 seconds remaining. Mercer Island then won the draw and quickly moved the ball into the Bellevue East zone to set up the score.
Sherper had seven goals on the night, while Moll tallied four for the Islanders. Interlake High’s Kayla Miller and Camille Sullivan each had five goals for Bellevue East, while Sammamish High’s Sophie Wolz had five assists.
