Show Must Go On: Mercer Island Band Still Plans to Perform, Tour London
It's not all fun and games for those with feet on the ground in London -- they've spent 18 hours changing tickets and reservations for tours and coaches to ensure that even late-arriving students can attend all originally planned events.
Mercer Island High School band director Parker Bixby adjusted plans so that the will be able to partipate. The most important switch involved moving the band's tour of Oxford and Cambridge from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3.
Even the concert scheduled for Thursday night will go on, as the last group arriving Thursday will be driven straight from the airport to Cadogan Hall to perform.
"Something tells me we may be taking all the tempos down a bit as a result of jetlag," said Bixby.

Bixby thanked everyone for their patience and good conduct despite the stressful changes. He noted personnel from each airline had commented on "how respectful, fun and mature" the students have been.
A blog to help family and friends monitor the band's tour should be active this evening. More information will be made available as it develops.
